Following the overwhelming success of its inaugural event in 2024, the Cape Clear Lavender Festival (Féile Lus Liath Chléire) is set to return for its second year, running from Friday, July 11th to Sunday, July 13th, 2025. Nestled in the spectacular scenery of Cape Clear, Ireland’s southernmost inhabited island, the festival once again promises a weekend brimming with colour, creativity, and community spirit.Last year’s festival drew over 500 visitors on Saturday alone, with many more arriving earlier to soak in the atmosphere of this unique celebration of lavender and local culture. Born from a community-led agritourism initiative that began in 2021, the festival celebrates the remarkable journey of cultivating lavender on the island – now proudly producing a range of artisanal goods under the banner ‘Cape Grown – Cape Made’. This year’s festivities kick off on Friday night with a special gig featuring acclaimed folk artist Ger O’Donnell, setting the tone for a weekend filled with live music across North Harbour and in various island pubs.Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy:
- A wide selection of lavender-infused treats, including local gin and ale
- Artisan stalls offering handmade lavender products like soaps, skincare, and candles
- Interactive workshops on lavender cultivation and distilling
- Wellness activities, including yoga by the pier
- Family-friendly fun, from face painting to farm visits at Mara Farm
- Lavender-inspired menus at local cafés and eateries
- Tastings from the Cape Clear Distillery and West Cork Brewery
